William Goodwin (July 9, 1699 - May 19, 1774) was the great-grandson of Ozias Goodwin, one of the original settlers of Hartford, Connecticut.

Goodwin was born on July 6, 1699 in Hartford, Connecticut, as the son of William Goodwin and Elizabeth Shephard. He grew up in the area and attended the local schools. After his marriage before 1733, he lived in Hartford with his family until his death.

William Goodwin died on May 19, 1774, a year before the outbreak of the American Revolution. He was buried in the Center Church cemetery in Hartford, Connecticut.
